Face Shields

Apr. 2020 - Aug. 2020

In response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Helping Hands decided to do something and help. Members of Helping Hands volunteered to produce plastic face shields for first responders, food distribution volunteers, and teachers.

It started in early in 2020, when our Vice President of Engineering, David Tamen, was experimenting with different 3D printed designs he could produce for himself and friends. His final design was sent to other members with 3D printers, and they all got work. Over a period of five months, almost 200 face shields were produced. Face shields were first distributed to first responders with the University of  Miami Hospital and City of Miami Beach Police. Later, face shields were given to volunteers at Commissioner Richardson's food distribution events. Lastly, with the start of school, face shields were given to teachers and staff at Miami Beach Senior High.

This project was funded through donations by our recipients. We are eternally grateful for them allowing this project to exist.
