It started in early 2020, when our Vice President of Engineering, David Tamen, was experimenting with different 3D printed designs he could produce for himself and his friends. His final design was sent to other members with 3D printers, and they all got work. Face shields were first distributed to first responders with the University of Miami Hospital, Miami Beach Police, volunteers at Commissioner Richardson's food distribution events, teachers and staff at Miami Beach Senior High, and across the world to first responders in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
This project was done through donations by our recipients and out-of-pocket expenses from our members.
