Oct. 2019 - Dec. 2019
This project was to mentor 3rd-grade students at a Title 1 elementary school about robotics and coding. The school was Biscayne Beach Elementary, where many members are alumni from, making it a great and personal school to work with.
Every week, our high school students visited Mr. Nudleman's class bringing new activities and lesson plans. Topics included exploring problems and possible solutions to issues such as climate change, energy efficiency, and handicapped accessibility. Over a period of three months, the students got to demonstrate their solutions by designing, constructing, and programming buildings using Lego WeDo 2.0 sets, allowing them to learn the basics of coding and robotics. At the end of the project, the students presented their buildings to their classmates, teachers, principals, and even to the City of Miami Beach Mayor and Commissioners.
This project was entirely funded through the City of Miami Beach STEAM+ Initiative. We are eternally grateful for them allowing this project to exist.
